Turbocharged EasyDCIM v1.3.0 on PHP 7!

EasyDCIM - the project which started 3 years ago is now in full blossom! Our system has gained trust of many enterprises and now we stand before you with yet another groundbreaking update. With today's release we would like to jump-start a new direction of EasyDCIM further development. The keyword phrase of this positive change will be called Admin Experience! The release of EasyDCIM v1.3.0 is another milestone in the rapid growth of our control panel. Let's start with the fact that now EasyDCIM fully supports PHP 7! What does it change? Among many other aspects, its performance! Now EasyDCIM works much faster and smoother than ever, reaching even up to 100% performance boost! To prove our bragging is nothing but legit, we will create two separate Blog articles with the comparisons soon :D Another important change in version 1.3.0 is support for another operating system - Debian 8.7 "Jessie" and support for the latest Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS! In EasyDCIM we put strong emphasis on the system's intuitiveness, ease of use and time you have to spend on making the right decisions, performing various actions to control your data center and react to rapidly changing situations. A good piece of software should be fully featured, however simple to use. Time is of the essence and we really want you to make the most of it. Why should you waste it on needless actions that can be automated and simplified? The answer is revealed in EasyDCIM v1.3.0 and our new approach to admin experience - guiding us to the upcoming updates. We will introduce series of changes allowing to automate and manage your whole business with no hassle. How will new EasyDCIM make your daily work more efficient? Starting with freshly added dynamic table columns enabling the selection of exact columns to be displayed - particularly useful for large data volumes. Another novelty is the possibility to display last hour traffic in servers/devices tables and to sort them freely by a chosen parameter. Thanks to this feature, you will no longer miss excessive resource usage or DDoS, and will be able to react accordingly in mere seconds! One of many improvements of such is also an enhanced rack view, enriched with an icon showing the status of a device, so a quick glance at your machines will now be more than enough to check their status. Convenient, isn't it? Just wait until you see the full changelog! Go To Changelog [gallery size="medium" link="file" ids="770,768,769"]

Know-How

Add device and IPMI configuration setup in a snap!

EasyDCIM, a golden opportunity to empower your data center, is the system with a vast number of functionalities. It is not an easy task to thoroughly document every single functionality and usage scenario - but why not give it a shot? A good way to start will be a step-by-step guide on how to capably add device and IPMI configuration in your system. Let's get going right away! If you want to quickly add a device in EasyDCIM then the best choice would be to use the Auto Discovering form. You will find it in the left side menu, unfolding successively 'Services & Devices' → 'Servers' → 'Auto Discovering' tabs. Remember that before adding a device you have to configure SNMP properly on the specific server, so EasyDCIM will be able to connect remotely to the device and download all the necessary information about it. Filling in the form is not something to be done the hard way – you only need to give some details. The first thing to provide is hostname or IP address of the device. Then you select the version of SNMP that is configured on the server and complete the SNMP Public Community field for v1 and v2c. If you are using SNMP v3, the other fields must be filled in as well. After clicking ‘Save Changes’ button, the system will automatically try to connect to a device using SNMP. When the whole process is successful, you will be automatically redirected to a page with a summary of the device: Auto Discovering automatically detects not only basic information about the device but also information about installed parts such as hard drives, RAM or processor. During this process all the network interfaces of the device are also added. Thanks to that the administrator does not have to bind them manually: After a few minutes the system, in the process of pooling, will automatically retrieve additional information about the device, traffic of individual ports and other useful data. All that using SNMP. The server has been added in just a few seconds and the only thing left to do now is the IPMI settings configuration. IPMI protocol allows us to remotely manage a device by performing actions like boot/reboot/shutdown. If the device is of Supermicro or Dell Drac (from version 6) type, we can additionally use the KVM console which is retrieved while using the CURL protocol. To set up a connection to the IPMI, choose ‘Settings’ from the top ‘Actions’ menu: Then, go to the ‘IPMI Settings’ tab and fill the appropriate fields such as IPMI IP Address, IPMI Username, IPMI Password and IPMI Protocol Version. After saving changes, use the ‘Test IPMI Connection’ button to check the connection. And that is basically all. Within a few moments we have added and pre-configured our device. So now we can manage it remotely using IPMI protocol, and also, using SNMP, monitor usage of transfer on specific server ports. Voila! One of the hundreds of EasyDCIM nooks has been just exposed to make your daily experience with our control panel much easier. We hope that you find this little tutorial useful. Shall we do more of these? Feel free to leave a comment below!

EasyDCIM v1.2.0 Beta Release
Release Notes

EasyDCIM v1.2.0 with OS Auto Installer!

We are happy to announce another milestone in our system for automated data center management. In this very release we would like to redefine the word automated as we are introducing a brand new, completely automated server provisioning flow. Our goal is to streamline the entire process from the moment of order to delivery of fully operational product to your customers. How have we achieved that? We released EasyDCIM v1.2.0 Beta! The latest version of our control panel has been enriched with OS Installation module which was the kind of a missing element in the whole provisioning puzzle. Technically, the module is based on NOC-PS submodule and in brief, will install automatically or manually required operating systems on servers you control or deliver to your clients. This process fills the automation gap from A to Z: Ordering → Matching Server → Turning Server ON → OS Auto Installation → → Monitoring & Management → Resource Usage Billing From now on you will be able to integrate with your favorite billing platform or use our inbuilt WHMCS integration to enable your customer to order and customize servers directly from your website. Afterwards, EasyDCIM will match a server in your data center to the preferences of your customer, turn it on automatically, install chosen during order operating system, assign subnet to server with IP Address Management and provision ready to action machine directly to your client. And that is just the beginning! Now, our complex monitoring and management mechanisms step into action providing you with a toolkit to control the machine, and your customer with a convenient panel to manage their server remotely. Meanwhile, the integration with a billing software assures precise server resource usage billing. We should not forget that this is just one of the possible scenarios. EasyDCIM will readily fit into many other usage concepts and of course serve you as an unprecedented manager of your data centers from a single part, through servers, complete racks, whole buildings up to different locations worldwide. Speaking of version 1.2.0 we cannot miss new Traffic Aggregation functionality allowing to combine traffic from multiple server ports connected to switch ports, or handy Troubleshooting Tool that will assist you in solving various issues. We have also released API v2.0 to enable you to exploit the integration possibilities of EasyDCIM to the max. In parallel, the system has undergone tons of major updates including improvements and bug fixes related to its nearly every aspect - from interface to core enhancements. We are taking great heart from your comments to actively improve our system to meet your expectations. This is a beta version, and as always, we count on your feedback! We expect to release stable version in the second half of October. Please note that you may come across certain parts of our website or documentation which still require an update. We are working on these with full commitment to finalize this task within the upcoming days. Last but not least, we are now entering a completely new phase of further EasyDCIM development. We will be releasing updates more frequently, including new modules, new features and some extras. Be sure to stay tuned for more info coming out soon! Please be advised that due to a number of changes introduced in EasyDCIM v1.2.0, the assistance of our Team is necessary to update your current instance of the system. No to worry! We will gladly assist you all the way through, just let us know when you are ready to proceed either via an email or a ticket. This time we will not indulge you with a teaser screenshot because every single aspect of the system has been redesigned in a great deal. Honestly, you have to see them all! Luckily for you, dozens of screenshots have been already updated on our website so you can check them out right away.
